John Howard, prime minister of Australia from 1996 to 2007, penned an opinion piece in the New York Time on how he Went After Guns.  You can read the entire dribble for yourself but the follow quote says it all:

"Australia, correctly in my view, does not have a Bill of Rights, so our legislatures have more say than America’s over many issues of individual rights, and our courts have less control"

Australian's are subjects, not citizens!

Our founding documents outline RESTRICTIONS ON GOVERNMENT not restrictions on citizens.

So John Howard thinks that legislatures should have ultimate authority over its subjects.  Sounds like a tried and true reason for a revolution.
